Meritorious students who excelled in the Matriculation and Intermediate examinations were felicitated at the ‘Bharat Ratna Late Rajiv Gandhi Talent Honour Ceremony’ held at the Chanho Block Headquarters on Saturday. Jharkhand Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey attended the event as the chief guest, while former minister Bandhu Tirkey was the guest of honour.
Students from schools and colleges across Chanho block who secured outstanding results in the state board examinations were presented with certificates of appreciation and mementoes.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey said the programme has been organised continuously for nearly two decades across the Mandar Assembly constituency to recognise academic excellence among Class 10 and Class 12 students. She described the event as a celebration of the hard work, talent and aspirations of the younger generation.
She said such initiatives motivate students to perform better and inspire others to pursue academic excellence. Stressing the importance of discipline, dedication and perseverance, she urged students to remain focused on their goals and adopt a positive outlook to achieve success.
The minister also highlighted the opportunities and challenges of the digital age, noting that while technology has expanded access to education, exposure of children to inappropriate online content has become a growing concern. She called upon parents and teachers to guide children responsibly and maintain regular communication with them.
She further observed that many students from rural areas achieve remarkable success despite limited resources and infrastructure, adding that recognising such achievements encourages not only the students but also society at large.
Former minister Bandhu Tirkey said continuous efforts are being made to strengthen the quality of education in the Mandar Assembly constituency. He noted that the infrastructure of Mandar and Bero colleges has improved significantly and reiterated the commitment to providing rural students with educational opportunities comparable to those available in urban areas.
