Preparations for the Rajkiya Shravani Mela 2026 gathered pace as Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania chaired a review meeting of the National Highway Division at the Deoghar Collectorate, directing officials to complete all pending infrastructure and beautification works within the stipulated time frame to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
Reviewing ongoing projects on key Kanwariya routes, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Executive Engineers concerned to expedite development works and strengthen basic infrastructure across the mela area. He emphasized that all projects should be completed with quality standards to facilitate the safe and hassle-free movement of devotees.
The meeting reviewed several works on NH-114A, including painting of passenger shelters, tree painting, installation of tree reflectors and road furniture between Km 122 and Km 140. Officials were also directed to construct RCC drains at Km 173(P) and 174(P) to address waterlogging during the mela, build two new passenger shelters for pilgrims, and undertake paver block laying and beautification works to improve the area’s appearance.
Focusing on road safety, Bhuvania stressed the need to reduce accidents on National Highways and ordered the early completion of corrective measures at the Dighariya Pahad black spot on NH-333. The works include road widening at turning points, installation of signboards, reflectors and other technical safety improvements.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed officials to complete repair and safety enhancement works near the Baijnathpur Railway Over Bridge on NH-114A and implement improved safety measures near the Manikpur Railway Over Bridge on NH-333 to ensure uninterrupted and secure traffic movement during the month-long religious event.
Officials from the National Highway Division, DMFT, the Public Relations Department and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
