Students from Jharkhand delivered an impressive performance in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, with several candidates securing high national ranks and boosting their chances of admission to leading medical colleges, although no student from the state featured in the national Top 100.
Suharsh Kumar Gupta (OBC-NCL) emerged as the Jharkhand topper, securing All India Rank (AIR) 455 with a 99.9771 percentile.
Among the state’s top performers, Ranchi’s Gyanendra Garv secured AIR 676 after scoring 665 out of 720 marks, achieving a 99.96 percentile and General Category Rank 413. A former student of JVM Shyamli and DAV Kapil Dev School, Garv credited his achievement to the unwavering support of his parents and teachers. His father, Kumar Mayank Bhushan, is an SDO in Garhwa, while his mother, Kumari Anjali, is a government school teacher.
“Despite his demanding responsibilities, my father constantly motivated me, while my mother supported me throughout my preparation. The guidance from my teachers also played a crucial role in my success,” Garv said.
Nearly 10,000 students from Ranchi appeared for the examination, with a large number scoring above 600 marks, reflecting the state’s growing competitiveness in medical entrance examinations. Educationists attributed the encouraging results to students’ hard work, quality mentoring and strong parental support.
JVM Shyamli Principal B.N. Jha congratulated the successful candidates, describing their achievements as a reflection of discipline, perseverance and commitment. He expressed confidence that the students would emerge as capable medical professionals and contribute meaningfully to society.
Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi also recorded an outstanding performance, with more than 50 students qualifying for the national-level examination. The school’s top performer, Akshat Prem, secured AIR 2034 and Category Rank 1074. Other notable achievers included Noorain Hasan (AIR 6582), Rajveer Singh (AIR 9089), Akansha Kumari (AIR 10098) and Vedant Tiwari (AIR 13284), among others.
Congratulating the students, DPS Ranchi Principal Dr. Jaya Chauhan praised their dedication and perseverance, saying their hard work had translated into remarkable success.
Students of Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi also performed well in the examination. Vaishnavi Singh secured Category Rank 4983, while Shanvi Snehal, Kritika, Ishika Modi, Venu Vaibhav Choudhary, Palak Priya, Bhavya Prakash, Lavanya Kashyap and Shubh Krishan were among the successful candidates.
Principal Manisha Sharma congratulated the students and credited their success to sustained hard work, disciplined preparation and the collective efforts of students, teachers and parents.
Nationally, Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana jointly secured AIR 1 with 715 out of 720 marks. The overall performance of Jharkhand students reaffirmed the state’s growing presence in competitive medical entrance examinations and underscored its improving academic standards.
