Jharkhand State Food Commission Acting Chairperson and Member Shabnam Parveen on Thursday inspected Anganwadi centres, schools, a Public Distribution System (PDS) outlet and the Malnutrition Treatment Centre (MTC) at Pakur Sadar Hospital to review the implementation of food security and nutrition schemes.
She assessed supplementary nutrition, maternal and child health services, immunisation, sanitation and the Mid-Day Meal (PM POSHAN) scheme, directing officials to ensure quality services and regular supply of nutritious meals, including eggs, to schoolchildren. At the PDS outlet, she reviewed foodgrain stocks and distribution records, stressing transparency and timely delivery to beneficiaries.
Chairing a review meeting later, Parveen instructed officials to ensure that no person in the district dies due to hunger. She directed authorities to provide 10 kg of foodgrain immediately to families in distress under relief provisions and expedite ration cards for all eligible households under the National Food Security Act. She also emphasised accountability and timely implementation of welfare schemes.
