The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly’s Petitions Committee on Monday reviewed pending public grievances and cases involving 30 government departments during a meeting with senior district officials in Garhwa, directing authorities to ensure their speedy and transparent disposal.
Committee members Uday Shankar Singh and Nagendra Mahto attended the meeting held at the Parisadan hall. The panel emphasised that unnecessary delays in addressing public complaints would not be tolerated and warned that officials found responsible for negligence or avoidable delays could be asked to explain their conduct.
The committee held detailed discussions on petitions concerning several departments, including rural development, urban development, rural development special division, building, drinking water and sanitation, district planning, welfare, social welfare, mining, Panchayati Raj, labour, revenue, excise, health, housing and supply.
After reviewing the status of individual petitions, the committee directed officials to take prompt action in cases requiring immediate intervention so that petitioners receive timely relief. It stressed that complaints should be dealt with strictly according to rules and in a transparent manner.
The panel also reviewed the implementation of various development projects, government schemes and public welfare programmes in the district. Officials were instructed to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of welfare schemes without unnecessary delays and that the implementation process remains transparent.
The committee said its primary objective was to ensure that public grievances are taken seriously, appropriate action is initiated and administrative accountability is strengthened. It urged officials to approach public-interest matters with sensitivity and respond to complaints promptly.
