The implementation of key welfare schemes for women and children was reviewed at a meeting of the Social Welfare Department on Wednesday, with officials directed to ensure timely delivery of benefits and strengthen monitoring at the grassroots level.
The meeting examined the progress of major schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana. Officials were asked to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive assistance without procedural delays.
The status of vacancies for Sevika and Sahayika posts at Anganwadi centres was also discussed. Officials were directed to maintain updated records and streamline the payment of honorarium and additional allowances.
The review also focused on the functioning and infrastructure of Anganwadi centres. Officials were asked to ensure the availability of basic facilities such as safe drinking water, functional toilets and electricity. Progress towards developing Saksham Anganwadi centres was also assessed.
Particular attention was given to the Poshan Tracker, with emphasis on complete and accurate data entry. Reports related to the SAMAR campaign, Supportive Supervision mechanisms and Malnutrition Treatment Centres were also reviewed.
Officials were instructed to achieve assigned targets within stipulated deadlines through better coordination between departments. Regular field inspections and close monitoring were emphasised to improve implementation.
The meeting stressed that effective execution of social welfare programmes is essential for improving health, nutrition and overall well-being among women, adolescent girls and children. Officials were directed to ensure prompt distribution of entitlements and address implementation gaps without delay.
