Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Alok Kumar Dubey launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and CPI(ML) over their conduct in the recent Rajya Sabha elections, alleging a blatant disregard for democratic values and coalition principles.
Dubey charged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attempted to influence the election through money power and political pressure, while its allies betrayed the spirit of the INDIA alliance. He claimed that RJD and CPI(ML) leaders accepted financial inducements from industrialist Parimal Nathwani and voted in favor of the BJP-backed candidate.
“RJD and CPI(ML) have sold their principles and integrity for a handful of rupees and political gain. To cover up this betrayal, they are now leveling baseless allegations against Congress leadership. But the people of Jharkhand are watching closely and will deliver a fitting response at the right time,” Dubey asserted.
He further questioned the role of RJD election observer Bhola Yadav, alleging that he acted more like an agent of BJP interests than a representative of the alliance. Dubey also condemned the misleading remarks made against Jharkhand Congress in-charge K. Raju, describing them as unfortunate and reflective of political frustration.
Highlighting Raju’s lifelong commitment to social justice, Dubey noted his significant contributions to landmark welfare initiatives such as MGNREGA, the Right to Information Act, the National Food Security Act, and the Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation Act. “K. Raju’s identity is defined not by position but by his dedication to the rights of the poor, farmers, Dalits, tribals, and marginalized communities,” he said.
Dubey emphasized that Congress will learn from this betrayal and strengthen its organization to the extent that it will no longer depend on allies in future Rajya Sabha elections. “Next time, Congress will send its candidate to the Rajya Sabha on its own strength,” he declared.
He concluded by stating that the people of Jharkhand have recognized those who trade democracy for money and opportunism. “The Congress party will continue to fight for public interest, democracy, and constitutional values with greater resolve,” Dubey affirmed.
