On Saturday late afternoon 3 men of Bihar came to Cheri Dhaam near the Bataney river, an inter state river of Jharkhand and Bihar, where the men took part in some ‘sacrificial ritual’ and thereafter took wine said the police.
Three persons from Bihar went into the river Bataney in an inebriated condition added the police. The river Bataney is ‘treacherous’ on three counts. First it is a total dry in summer. Two, it remains in spate in rainy season. Three, it has ankle deep water to head top deep water in the rainy season.
Police quoting villagers said the 3 men misread the river Bataney and went into deep swimming only to find themselves in a treacherous deep level of water where the 3 began to sink. Locals rescued Rajinder 36 who is reported to be surviving in a nearby hospital in Bihar’s Aurangabad district said police.
Body of another man Ritik, 25 was found by the villagers Sunday morning. Ritik’s father has given a written petition to the local Harihurganj police which has lodged a UD unnatural death case.
The third drowned Raju’s body is untraced and unretrieved till the time of filing of the report. Police quoting villagers said the locals had warned the 3 Bihar men not to take this river Bataney any lightly nor to go deeper with cell phone camera on but the 3 just ignored the warning and got absorbed in filming the river without bothering for the depth and quantum of water.
