On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026, a grand mass yoga demonstration was organized at the Indoor Stadium in Dumka, drawing enthusiastic participation from all walks of life. Centered around the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the event successfully brought together district officials, administrative staff, students, non-governmental organizations, media personnel, and a vast number of local citizens, emphasizing a shared commitment to healthy living.

The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dumka Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha. Following the inaugural ceremony, participants took a solemn pledge to adopt yoga for a healthy, disease-free, and positive lifestyle. Under the expert guidance of trained instructors, the gathering performed a series of yogic postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques in accordance with the established national protocol. The session featured comprehensive demonstrations and practice of various asanas, including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhadrasana, Bhujangasana, and Vajrasana, alongside Pranayama techniques like Kapalbhati and Anulom-Vilom.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha underscored that yoga is far more than a physical exercise; it serves as a foundation for mental peace, emotional equilibrium, and overall positivity. He remarked that the relevance of yoga has grown exponentially in today’s stressful and fast-paced life. Regular practice, the DC noted, strengthens an individual physically, balances them mentally, and fosters social awareness, while instilling discipline, restraint, and self-confidence.

Concluding his address, the Deputy Commissioner made a fervent appeal to the residents of the district to not limit yoga to a single day’s celebration, but to seamlessly integrate it into their daily routines. He emphasized that yoga plays a pivotal role in building a healthy individual, a vibrant family, and a progressive society. The event concluded with a strong sense of community participation, reflecting a growing local movement toward public health and wellness.
