The Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC) has ordered the demolition of an allegedly illegal wedding hall constructed without an approved building plan, intensifying its crackdown on unauthorised constructions in the city.
The civic body declared the “Golden Wedding Palace” at Ara More on Bhuli Bypass Road an unauthorised structure and directed its owner to demolish the building within 15 days. It warned that if the order is not complied with, the corporation will carry out the demolition, recover the expenses from the owner and impose a penalty of ₹10 lakh.
The order was issued after hearings in Building Case No. 02/2026. According to the DMC, the investigation found that the banquet hall had been built without mandatory building plan approval and violated municipal building norms, including the absence of the required setback and parking facilities.
Officials said the owner was given several opportunities to produce documents proving the legality of the construction but failed to submit any approved building plan. During the proceedings, the owner reportedly admitted that the plan had never been sanctioned.
Municipal Commissioner Ashish Gangwar said the inquiry was initiated following complaints and confirmed clear violations of building regulations. He reiterated that prior approval from the competent authority is mandatory before any construction and noted that the owner may challenge the order before the appropriate legal forum.
According to official sources, the property belongs to a scrap trader known as “Golden,” who is alleged to have links with fugitive gangster Prince Khan of Wasseypur. Authorities said complaints regarding the property surfaced during a broader crackdown on the gangster’s alleged financial network, leading to the demolition order after nearly five months of hearings.
