Jamshedpur-based HR leader Bhavuk Gupta has made his literary debut with Nautica: The Sapphire Cube, a fantasy novel that introduces “PuzzTales”—a unique storytelling format blending fiction with logic-based puzzles to create an interactive reading experience for children and young adults.
Designed for readers aged seven and above, the book follows the adventures of Tiara and her companion Teksh as they attempt to save their magical world by solving eleven progressively challenging puzzles. Unlike conventional puzzle books, each puzzle directly influences the storyline, encouraging readers to actively participate in the narrative while developing logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Though set in a fantasy world, the novel draws inspiration from the landscapes, values and spirit of Jamshedpur, offering local readers subtle references to the city throughout the story.
Gupta, who has over 16 years of experience in human resources leadership, organisational development and workforce transformation, currently heads Talent Management and Employee Relations. An alumnus of the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, he has also been recognised among the HR40Under40 and is a Certified Independent Director.
Originally from New Delhi, Gupta has long been associated with Jamshedpur and says the city’s culture and people inspired much of his work. A lifelong enthusiast of logic puzzles and strategic thinking, he wrote the book with the aim of making logical reasoning enjoyable for young readers through storytelling.
Nautica: The Sapphire Cube, now available on Amazon, is Gupta’s first published work and marks the beginning of his vision to make learning through puzzles an engaging literary experience.
