ADLS Sunshine School successfully hosted the CISCE Zonal Karate Selection Trials 2026, providing a competitive platform for young karate talents from schools across the city to showcase their skills and vie for selection to the next stage of the championship.
The one-day event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 23 schools, with a total of 196 karatekas competing in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories. The tournament featured 100 boys and 96 girls, reflecting growing interest in martial arts among school students.
The trials were inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Sourabh Tiwari, Secretary of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) and former Indian cricketer, and Guest of Honour Dr. Hassan Imam Mallick, International Handball Coach and Executive – Health & Wellness, Sports Division, Tata Steel.
The programme commenced with prayers seeking the blessings of the Almighty, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. They were joined by Y. Ishwar Rao, President, ADL Society; NVR Murty, Chairman, ADL Society Schools, M. Kamal Kumar, Honorary Secretary, ADLS Sunshine School, P. Simhadri Rao, Honorary Treasurer, ADL Society & Schools, L. Nageshwar Rao, Honorary Secretary, Jharkhand Goju Ryu Karate Do Association, Principal Manju Singh and other members of the school management.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries lauded the participants for their dedication and sporting spirit, emphasizing the importance of discipline, perseverance and physical fitness in shaping the character of young students. They also appreciated the school’s efforts in promoting sports alongside academics.
The selection trials concluded successfully, with participants displaying impressive technique, determination and sportsmanship. The event reaffirmed ADLS Sunshine School’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and encouraging holistic development through competitive sporting opportunities.
