A day ahead of Rakchha Bandhan, a 10 years old girl was crushed to death by a speedy commercial van on NH 139 in Palamu district’s Harihurganj police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Sweety Kumari of Firozi village. Her father Mukesh Ram, a migrant worker is in Gujarat state.
She was in the Jal Yatra when this fatal mishap occurred late Thursday afternoon.
The vehicle was coming from the Bihar side to Pipra in Jharkhand where at Kawwa Khoh this accident occurred.
Officer in charge of the Harihurganj police station Deobrat Poddar said police rescued the driver Roshan Kumar from public fury as otherwise any thing ugliest could have happened to Kumar.
The vehicle causing death has been seized. Police have drawn FAR first accident report.
The girl was rushed to the nearest health centre where she was declared dead said police.
