The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Tuesday organised a district-level training camp for Booth Level Agents-2 (BLA-2) in Garhwa to strengthen booth-level preparedness for the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Held at Shaheed Nilamber-Pitamber Town Hall, the programme trained BLA-2 workers on voter verification, electoral roll updation and the enrolment of eligible voters. The event began with floral tributes to Hul revolutionaries Sidho and Kanho, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
JMM Central General Secretary and spokesperson Vinod Pandey said an accurate and updated electoral roll is vital for strengthening democracy. He urged booth-level workers to conduct door-to-door verification, ensure no eligible voter is left out and complete corrections or fresh enrolments within the stipulated time. Pandey also asked workers to follow Election Commission guidelines while registering new voters, identifying deceased or shifted electors and rectifying errors in voter lists.
Former minister and JMM Central General Secretary Mithilesh Kumar Thakur said BLA-2 workers should visit every household to create awareness and help resolve voter registration issues. Referring to concerns over the SIR exercise, he said the party wanted to ensure that, as in Bihar, West Bengal and Assam, no eligible voter in Jharkhand was excluded from the electoral roll.
The session covered election procedures, prescribed forms, document verification and other technical aspects of the revision process. Trainers also addressed participants’ queries. Bhawnathpur MLA Anant Pratap Deo, district and block leaders, booth in-charges and party workers attended the programme, which concluded with a pledge to ensure comprehensive voter verification across Garhwa district.
