ESL Steel marks Doctors’ Day with renewed focus on rural healthcare

July 1, 2026

PNS

BOKARO

On the occasion of Doctors’ Day, Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited (VISL) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening rural healthcare through its flagship CSR initiative, Project Aarogya, while paying tribute to doctors, nurses and frontline healthcare workers for their dedicated service.

Through Mobile Health Units (MHUs), health camps, preventive healthcare awareness programmes, maternal health initiatives, blood donation drives and nutritional support under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the company has been expanding access to affordable primary healthcare in underserved communities.

Ravish Sharma, CEO and Whole-Time Director, ESL Steel Limited, said the company remains committed to bringing quality healthcare closer to villages around its operations. He noted that Mobile Health Units and preventive healthcare initiatives are helping bridge critical healthcare gaps while promoting health awareness.

Since FY24, Project Aarogya has benefited more than 2.3 lakh people across VISL’s operations in six states. During the same period, employees, workmen and business partners voluntarily donated over 3,500 units of blood. At Bokaro, the company’s Mobile Health Units provide doorstep healthcare services to 27 villages surrounding the plant.

VISL is also supporting the Nikshay Mitra initiative under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by providing nutritional support to TB patients. In Jharkhand alone, more than 1,200 TB patients have benefited from the programme.

Beneficiary Ajay Kumar Mahto of Kasi Tola, Alkusha, said the twice-monthly medical camps have significantly improved access to free consultations and medicines for villagers, making quality healthcare more accessible.
