Calling for tangible improvements in the education system, Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania on Tuesday directed officials to move beyond paperwork and focus on delivering measurable outcomes in schools across the district.
Chairing a review meeting of the Education Department at the Collectorate Hall, the Deputy Commissioner instructed district and block-level officials to intensify field-level monitoring under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), with a special focus on timely appointments, increasing student enrolment and preventing school dropouts.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the current academic standards, Bhuvania said improvements should be reflected in students’ learning outcomes rather than remaining confined to official records. He directed education officials to take immediate corrective measures to improve classroom teaching and overall academic performance.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed authorities to conduct regular assessments in schools and adopt customised learning methods based on students’ individual needs to enhance their understanding and examination performance.
Emphasising the importance of universal education, he asked officials to identify school dropouts on priority, ensure their re-enrolment and provide them with better educational support to secure their future.
In addition to academic reforms, Bhuvania directed officials to maintain high standards in the Mid-Day Meal programme and ensure regular health check-ups of students to promote their overall well-being.
The review meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, the District Education Officer, District Superintendent of Education, Assistant Public Relations Officer, Block Education Officers and other officials of the Education Department, who were directed to ensure effective implementation of the decisions taken during the meeting.
