On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), through its Department of Environment Protection and Sustainable Development in collaboration with the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, organized an awareness programme on Biomedical Waste Management Rules at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH).
The programme aimed to create awareness among doctors, nursing students, and hospital staff about the safe segregation, treatment, and disposal of biomedical waste. Participants were briefed on the Biomedical Waste Management Rules, 2016, and subsequent amendments. Experts highlighted the role of scientific waste management in environmental protection and public health safety.
Quiz and poster-making competitions on biomedical waste management were also organized for hospital staff and nursing students. Winners were awarded prizes and certificates. Officials stressed the importance of proper waste segregation and safe disposal, urging all stakeholders to follow prescribed guidelines and contribute to environmental conservation.
BGH is equipped with a 50 kg-per-hour dual-chamber incinerator, a 102 KLD Effluent Treatment Plant, and a 500 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant, ensuring safe treatment, recycling, and reuse of wastewater.
As part of World Environment Day 2026, BSL is conducting awareness campaigns across its plant, township, and hospital areas to promote environmental protection and sustainable development.
