Students and members of various social organisations staged a protest at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi on Monday over the alleged NEET paper leak, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and greater transparency in the country’s examination system.
Holding placards and banners, the protesters alleged that despite the seriousness of the issue, strict action had not been taken against those responsible. They argued that, on moral grounds, the Union Education Minister should resign and demanded a fair and transparent investigation into the alleged irregularities.
The demonstrators said the future of millions of students was at stake and insisted that accountability must be fixed. They warned that their agitation would continue until those responsible for the alleged examination irregularities were brought to justice and their demands were addressed.
The protesters also condemned the police action against environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where he had been on a hunger strike. They said individuals raising their voices through peaceful democratic means should not face such treatment. Authorities, however, have maintained that Wangchuk was shifted to a hospital on medical grounds, while his supporters have questioned the action.
