A low-pressure area active over the Bay of Bengal is further strengthening the monsoon in Jharkhand. As a result, rainfall has intensified across the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rain in several districts over the next three days.
A drop in temperature has been recorded due to the continuous rainfall, and people have been advised to remain cautious.
The impact of the low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal and its associated cyclonic circulation is now clearly visible in Jharkhand. Under its influence, the sky remained overcast across almost all districts of the state on Wednesday, and significant rainfall was recorded in many areas.
Simdega received the highest rainfall at 34 mm, while Medininagar recorded 21 mm and the capital, Ranchi, recorded 14 mm. Continuous rain also led to a drop in Ranchi’s temperature.
The city’s maximum temperature fell by 1.5°C to 30.6°C, and the minimum temperature dropped by 1.6°C to 23.9°C.
The Meteorological Centre has issued a warning for heavy rain in several parts of the State on July 17. Heavy rainfall is predicted for the districts of Ramgarh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Seraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, and West Singhbhum. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is expected in other districts, including the capital, Ranchi.
The Meteorological Department informed that heavy rain is likely in Godda, Sahibganj, Dumka, Pakur, Khunti, Seraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, and West Singhbhum. In Ranchi, the sky is expected to remain overcast throughout the day, with moderate rainfall likely in several places.
The spell of heavy rain is likely to continue in several districts of Jharkhand on July 18 as well. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall for Godda, Sahibganj, Dumka, Pakur, Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan. Light to moderate rain is expected at one or two places in other districts of the state. The department has urged people to remain alert and take necessary precautions during inclement weather.
