Deoghar
The railway and district administrations have finalized extensive arrangements for the world-famous State Shravani Mela in Deoghar to manage the massive influx of pilgrims. Every year, lakhs of devotees from across the country travel to Deoghar to worship Baba Baidyanath, with the vast majority arriving by train.
To accommodate the surge in passengers, the Asansol Railway Division is running 26 pairs of special trains connecting various parts of the country to Deoghar and Jasidih. Passenger amenities are also being upgraded at the Deoghar, Jasidih, and Baidyanath Dham railway stations. To maintain strict hygiene standards, the railway administration has nearly tripled its sanitation staff at these stations.
On the security front, 250 to 300 RPF personnel will be deployed. Additional RPF forces will also be stationed at Basukinath Dham, alongside Deoghar, Jasidih, and Baidyanath Dham stations, to ensure seamless crowd control and safety.
To handle sudden overcrowding, the railways will set up temporary tents equipped with essential amenities to give passengers a place to rest.
With lakhs of devotees arriving daily during the Shravani Mela, the railways play a crucial role. All eyes are now on how effectively these measures will ease the journey and improve the overall travel experience for the pilgrims.
