A delegation of Congress legislators, led by Jharkhand Congress in-charge K. Raju and Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav, has urged the Election Commission to extend the deadline for submitting enumeration forms under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls by 15 days.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission through the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand, citing practical and administrative challenges that have prevented a large number of eligible voters from completing the process.
According to the Congress leaders, reports from voters, booth-level agents, public representatives and field workers indicate that many eligible electors have been unable to submit their forms due to migration, work commitments, illness and other logistical issues, particularly in urban and remote areas.
The party claimed that of Jharkhand’s 26.4 million registered voters, only 82.08 percent had undergone parental mapping, leaving nearly 4.74 million voters unmapped, most of whom fall under the ASDD category. It further stated that as of July 17, 2026, only 15.1 million forms had been digitised, while around 11.3 million remained pending. More than 1.439 million forms are yet to be digitised in just five Assembly constituencies.
The delegation included Congress in-charge K. Raju, CLP leader Pradeep Yadav, ministers Radhakrishna Kishore and Deepika Pandey Singh, MLAs Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, Rajesh Kachhap, Naman Bixal Kongari, Bhushan Bara, Mamta Devi, Anoop Singh, Shweta Singh, Ramchandra Singh, Sonaram Sinku, Suresh Baitha, along with Pradesh Congress Committee general secretaries Suryakant Shukla and Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo.
