In a major push to ensure seamless law enforcement and hassle-free pilgrimage management, Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra chaired a high-level security meeting at the Dumka Collectorate on Friday. The visit follows her offer of prayers at the holy shrines of Deoghar and Basukinath Dham, marking the final phase of administrative planning ahead of the famed Shravani Mela, set to commence on July 30.
The top-tier review meeting saw the presence of key law enforcement leadership, including IG (Operations) NK Singh, IG (CID) Ajay Linda, IG (Santhal Pargana) Mayur Patel Kanhaiyalal, and DIG Amber Lakra, along with Superintendents of Police from all districts under the Santhal Pargana division.
Focusing on core policing challenges across the division, the DGP issued firm directions to curb organized crime, accelerate the resolution of pending cases, execute long-standing arrest warrants, and crack down heavily on active cybercrime modules and narcotics syndicates.
A primary focus of the session was fine-tuning the operational framework for the world-renowned Shravani Mela. With millions of *kanwariyas* expected to undertake the annual pilgrimage to offer holy water at Baba Baidyanath Dham and Baba Basukinath Dham, DGP Mishra stressed the necessity of airtight security, frictionless traffic management, and proactive crowd control.
Earlier in Jarmundi, the DGP performed rituals at the Basukinath temple, where she was formally felicitated with a sacred memento by Santhal Pargana DIG Amber Lakra, Dumka SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar, and Panda Dharmarakshini Sabha President Manoj Panda.
Speaking on the deployment plan, DGP Mishra highlighted that state forces will leverage modern technology—including artificial intelligence-integrated surveillance, drone monitoring, and extensive CCTV networks—to maintain continuous vigilance across the mela grounds. Seeking active collaboration from local priest bodies and shrine representatives, the state police chief reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering a safe, peaceful, and well-regulated experience for every visiting devotee.
