Lord Jagannath’s Bahuda Yatra (Return Car Festival) was celebrated with great devotion, enthusiasm and religious fervour in Bokaro Steel City on Friday. Following traditional rituals and prayers, the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were ceremonially brought out from the temple and placed on a beautifully decorated chariot.
Before the procession commenced, the Executive Director (Materials Management) performed the traditional Chhera Panhara ritual by ceremonially sweeping the chariot. Members of the Bokaro Mahila Samiti, dignitaries and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
The return procession began from the Ram Temple premises at Janvrit-1 with active participation from residents and devotees, who pulled the chariot as an act of faith and devotion. The yatra passed through Patharkatta Chowk, Gandhi Chowk (City Centre) and the Bokaro General Hospital Road before culminating at the Jagannath Temple.
Voluntary organisations, Bokaro Mahila Samiti and several social groups arranged drinking water and refreshing beverages for devotees along the route, ensuring a comfortable experience for participants.
The event reflected Bokaro Steel Plant’s continued efforts to strengthen the city’s cultural and social fabric while promoting community participation. Such religious and cultural celebrations foster harmony, unity and the spirit of selfless service among the people.
