Former MLA Sita Soren on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the state government over escalating migration and acute agrarian distress, accusing the administration of turning a blind eye to the plight of the rural populace.
Stepping directly into the muddy fields alongside local women farmers at Chigalpahadi village in the Jama block, Soren rolled up her sleeves to participate in traditional paddy transplantation while closely assessing the ground-level challenges confronting the farming community.
Interacting with the cultivators, she alleged that farmers are continuously grappling with severe hardships due to the administrative failure in providing timely fertilizers, quality seeds, adequate irrigation, and other essential agricultural inputs.
Expressing grave concern over the socio-economic scenario in the region, Soren asserted that the lack of sustainable employment opportunities across the state has triggered a massive wave of migration, particularly from the Santhal Pargana division. She lambasted the ruling dispensation for exhibiting utter apathy towards this critical demographic crisis.
Emphasizing the urgent need for a strategic policy overhaul, the former legislator maintained that an effective check on migration is impossible without making agriculture and rural development the top policy priorities. She advocated for aggressive job creation at the grassroots level to secure the future of rural youth and stabilize the agrarian economy.
