In a proactive stance against illegal trafficking, the district administration through the District Child Protection Unit spearheaded a high-visibility flag march at the local railway premises to mark World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, aiming to sensitize citizens and travellers against predatory trafficking networks.
Addressing the gathering during the awareness campaign, District Child Protection Officer Prakash Chandra highlighted that human traffickers frequently exploit railway networks as a primary transit conduit to execute their illicit operations with ease. Sounding an alert, he urged the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Railway Child Helpdesk to maintain extreme vigilance and conduct surprise checks. He also appealed to the general public to stay watchful during journeys and immediately report any suspicious activity or individual to the toll-free child helpline number, 1098. Asserting that the administration operates on a strict zero-tolerance policy towards trafficking, he warned that swift and stringent legal action would be initiated against perpetrators.
Echoing similar sentiments, RPF Post Commander Shankar Ravi Das emphasized that breaking the entrenched chains of human trafficking requires a unified, collective societal effort, assuring that the RPF security apparatus remains steadfastly committed round the clock.
The coordinated campaign witnessed active participation from several key stakeholders, including Child Helpline Project Coordinator Mohammad Shamim Ansari and his team members, the Railway Child Helpdesk personnel, Niti Aayog District Representative Amlesh Kumar, Mukesh Kumar Dubey and Sanatan Murmu from the NGO Gram Jyoti, Tara Prasad from Gram Sathi, Prem Moholi from Jan Sahas, and Asit Kumar Dan from CINI, alongside other frontline workers.
