Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Joint Secretary Pradeep Kumar Srivastava met former Khunti MP and Padma Bhushan awardee Kariya Munda at his residence in Anigara on Tuesday. Munda is a trustee of the PM CARES Fund.
During the meeting, Srivastava briefed Munda on the activities and future plans of the PM CARES Fund and, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s instructions, enquired about his health and conveyed wishes for his well-being.
Srivastava highlighted the fund’s contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the supply of Made-in-India ventilators to hospitals and the installation of oxygen plants across the country. He said the PM CARES Fund has received voluntary contributions of ₹19,013.99 crore.
He also outlined the PM CARES for Children scheme, under which children orphaned during the pandemic receive health insurance of up to ₹5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat and financial assistance of ₹10 lakh at the age of 23. In addition, cancer patients can receive financial assistance of up to ₹3 lakh on the recommendation of Members of Parliament.
During his visit, Srivastava also toured the Kariya Munda Seva Kendra, Mahatma N.D. Grover School and the Pestology Children Education Society, where he interacted with students and reviewed their activities. Munda presented him with a handwoven shawl and conveyed his greetings and blessings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
