NIT Jamshedpur joins PM’s Anti-Drug Mission

In a strong show of support for the nationwide campaign against drug abuse, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur on Sunday organised a large-scale Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat awareness programme, with hundreds of students, faculty members and staff taking a pledge to build a drug-free India.

The highlight of the event was the live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat 2047’, during which the Prime Minister called upon the country’s youth to stay away from substance abuse and become the driving force behind a developed India by 2047.

The programme began with students assembling at the hostel area before launching a spirited anti-drug awareness rally to the institute’s Main Building. The rally gained momentum as faculty members, officers and staff joined from the Main Building Portico, transforming the campus into a vibrant display of the anti-drug campaign. Participants later gathered at DJLHC-212 to watch the Prime Minister’s address live.

Held under the banner of the National Service Scheme (NSS), the campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, students, faculty and administrative staff, reflecting the institute’s commitment to promoting a healthy and responsible lifestyle among young people.

Director In-Charge Prof. R. V. Sharma said that the country’s youth are the foundation of the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and stressed that a drug-free generation is essential for building a healthy, prosperous and self-reliant nation. Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Saroj Kumar Sarangi urged students to become ambassadors of the anti-drug movement and spread awareness within society.

Dean (Faculty Welfare) Prof. Dilip Kumar ensured active participation of faculty members, while Dean (Research & Consultancy) Prof. Satish Kumar was also present during the programme.

The event was coordinated by NSS Coordinator Dr. Jayendra Kumar, who oversaw the smooth conduct of the rally and the live telecast. The programme concluded with all participants taking a collective pledge to stay away from drugs and actively contribute towards the national mission of a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, followed by a high tea for participants.der investigation.
