The Youth AJSU will organise a two-day state convention in Jamshedpur on August 7 and 8, with party central president and former deputy chief minister Sudesh Kumar Mahto reviewing preparations at the party headquarters in Harmu on Monday.
Addressing party office-bearers, Mahto said the convention would give the organisation “new energy, new leadership and a new direction”. He stressed the need to develop leadership skills, ideological clarity and social responsibility among the youth. An online membership and registration campaign of Youth AJSU was also launched on the occasion.
A delegates’ conference will be held on August 7 to discuss organisational expansion, future strategy and various resolutions. On August 8, a tribute meeting will be organised to mark the martyrdom day of Jharkhand movement leader Nirmal Mahato. The party will also announce its upcoming programmes and campaigns.
Representatives from panchayats, blocks, districts, the state and urban local bodies, along with a large number of youths aged 18 to 35, are expected to attend the convention.
Speaking to the media, Mahto criticised the state government over alleged irregularities in the 14th JPSC and JSSC recruitment examinations. He demanded a CBI probe into the cases, alleging that the government was relying on the CID investigation to keep the issue from reaching a logical conclusion.
He sought the immediate removal and reconstitution of the JPSC with independent and impartial members. He also demanded an inquiry by a committee comprising retired judges and experts.
On the JSSC CGL case involving second-ranked candidate Abhay Tiwari, Mahto sought a comprehensive investigation into the recruitment system and the role of the commission’s current chairman.
He said AJSU stood with students and youth demanding transparent, malpractice-free examinations, fair employment opportunities and reforms in the education system.
