Raghubar demands CBI probe into JPSC exams

Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations, saying that ‘playing with the future of students is unacceptable’. He urged the state government to order an impartial investigation to restore the confidence of job aspirants.

Addressing the media in Jamshedpur, Das said questions over the fairness of JPSC recruitment examinations have persisted for a long time and students have been demanding a transparent inquiry. He said he had emailed a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren, urging him to recommend a CBI investigation into the alleged recruitment scam so that doubts among candidates could be cleared and those found guilty punished.

Referring to the ongoing protests by JPSC aspirants, Das said their principal demand is a CBI probe into the alleged examination irregularities. He asserted that in a democracy, the concerns of students deserve serious attention, particularly when the credibility of the recruitment process is being questioned.

The former Chief Minister said Jharkhand’s youth invest years preparing for government jobs and any doubts over the integrity of recruitment examinations directly affect their future. Alleging that several competitive examinations in the state have faced similar allegations in recent years, he said only an independent CBI inquiry could establish the truth, identify those responsible if irregularities occurred, or clear the recruitment process if the allegations were unfounded. He urged the government to rise above politics and act in the interest of the state’s youth.
