Ranchi
Prioritizing passenger safety, punctuality, and world-class rail services, the Ranchi Railway Division (RRD) a state-of-the-art Operation and Traffic Control center—known as the Unified Command and Control Center (UCCC)—will be established within the division.
This integrated command center will ensure seamless coordination among various departments involved in rail operations, facilitating continuous train monitoring, rapid and effective decision-making, efficient resource management, and swift, coordinated action during emergencies or accidents. Equipped with cutting-edge digital technologies, the center will elevate the safety, efficiency, and reliability of rail operations to new heights while providing passengers with a safer, smoother, and higher-quality travel experience.
The center will utilize an integrated array of modern IT-based systems, including COA, FOIS, ICMS, Data Logger, SCADA, and TMS. Large video walls and digital displays will enable continuous monitoring of train speed, punctuality, signaling, power supply, and other critical operational data. This will provide immediate information regarding technical glitches, operational issues, or any anomalies in train movement, allowing for timely decisions and prompt action.
At the UCCC, various operational departments will function from a single location. This will ensure rapid information exchange and enhanced coordination among the Operations, Commercial, Engineering, Electrical, Signal and Telecommunication, Security, and other related departments.
The center will also serve as a central command hub for relief and rescue operations during accidents, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
Additionally, critical operational information—such as train delays, route diversions, or other important updates—can be communicated to passengers more effectively through station-based systems and passenger information networks.
The establishment of the Operation and Traffic Control ( UCCC) in the RRD will be a significant initiative towards smart and technology-driven rail operations.
