The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress media department on Monday held its monthly workshop at the Congress Bhawan in Ranchi, with party leaders stressing the need to strengthen communication with the public and effectively counter what they described as BJP’s “misinformation campaign” on social media.
The meeting was attended by party spokespersons, media panelists and members of the research and publicity department. Discussions focused on taking the Congress ideology and the state government’s initiatives to people through various communication platforms, particularly social media.
Addressing the meeting, Pradesh Congress Committee president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh said the media department serves as an important link between the organisation and the people. He said the BJP’s alleged use of misleading propaganda to divert public attention from issues such as paper leaks, inflation and rising agricultural input costs had increased the responsibility of Congress spokespersons.
He urged party representatives to strongly counter what he termed “false allegations” by the Opposition and ensure that the Congress’s position on key issues reaches the public effectively.
Congress Legislature Party deputy leader Rajesh Kachhap said media department members were the “public face” of the organisation and must clearly communicate the party’s stand on various issues. He said while individual leaders may have differing views, the party’s media team must present the organisational position consistently.
Former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay said the Congress often has a clear position on issues but needs to improve its ability to communicate it effectively to the public. He also stressed the importance of coordination between the government and the party organisation.
State Congress media in-charge Rakesh Sinha, media chairman Satish Paul Munjani, media coordinator Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo and several spokespersons and media department members attended the workshop.
