The Jharkhand government has extended financial assistance of ₹3 crore to Assam to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in the flood-hit state, Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced on Thursday.
In a letter to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Soren expressed solidarity with the people of Assam and assured the state’s full support during the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by devastating floods.
The Chief Minister said Assam is facing a grave situation due to widespread flooding, which has resulted in significant loss of lives and property while leaving thousands of people displaced. He said standing with the people of Assam during such a difficult time is a collective moral responsibility.
Expressing condolences on behalf of the Jharkhand government and its people, Soren said the state remains committed to supporting relief and rehabilitation efforts. As part of this commitment, the government has contributed ₹3 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Soren also appealed to capable citizens of Jharkhand to come forward and voluntarily contribute towards assisting flood-affected families in Assam. He praised the resilience and determination shown by the people of the northeastern state in coping with the disaster and supporting one another during the crisis.
In his letter, the Chief Minister prayed for the well-being of the flood victims and expressed hope that Assam would recover from the calamity at the earliest and return to normalcy. He also assured that if any additional assistance is required in the future, the Jharkhand government would be ready to extend all possible support.
Conveying the sentiments of the people of Jharkhand, Soren said humanity must remain the highest priority during times of natural disasters and that states should stand together to support one another in moments of crisis.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledged the assistance and thanked Hemant Soren and the people of Jharkhand for their support and solidarity with the flood-affected state.
