The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Rani Jyotirmay Stadium in Pakur on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Megha Bhardwaj hoisted the national flag and took the salute after inspecting the ceremonial parade.
The stadium was filled with patriotic enthusiasm as a large number of residents, officials and police personnel attended the district-level celebration. Superintendent of Police Anudeep Singh, DFO Saurabh Chandra, DDC Arvind Kumar Lal, SDO Simon Marandi and senior district officials were present.
Addressing the gathering, Bhardwaj extended Independence Day greetings and paid tribute to freedom fighters, national leaders and martyrs. She said Jharkhand has a proud legacy of courage, sacrifice and public participation.
She stressed that Independence Day was a reminder of the responsibilities citizens share towards national unity, integrity and democratic values. Ensuring government schemes reach the last person, providing quality education, creating opportunities for youth and promoting women’s empowerment, she said, remain key priorities of the district administration.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted development initiatives in health, education, rural development, social security, drinking water, sanitation and other sectors.
Officials and employees for outstanding work in education, healthcare and policing were felicitated with certificates. In the parade competition, Jharkhand Police Force secured first place, NCC DAV second and Escort and Guide third.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held at government offices, block headquarters, schools and educational institutions across the district.
