Manoj Tiwari to lead grand bhajan sandhya on final sawan Monday

The city is set to reverberate with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” as the Har Har Mahadev Seva Sangh prepares to organise its 26th Bhajan Sandhya on the final Monday of the holy month of Sawan on August 24.

The grand devotional music evening will be held at Sakchi Gurudwara Ground, where renowned bhajan singer Manoj Tiwari will perform along with a 14-member troupe of vocalists and instrumentalists. The programme is scheduled to begin at 6.30 pm and is expected to draw thousands of devotees from across the city and adjoining areas.

The evening will begin at 6 pm with a devotional performance by local bhajan singer Krishna Murti and his team. The main programme featuring Manoj Tiwari will follow after the opening rituals and worship.

Organisers said elaborate preparations are underway to give the annual event the grandeur associated with the Har Har Mahadev Seva Sangh’s Bhajan Sandhya. A large pandal is being erected at the Gurudwara Ground with seating arrangements for thousands of devotees.

One of the major attractions of the event will be a grand tableau of Baba Barfani, featuring an ice Shivling at the entrance. The programme will commence after the initial worship and conclude with the traditional aarti.

The Sangh will also arrange free distribution of tea, drinking water and bhog prasad for devotees. Entry to the venue will be free, though passes are being distributed to regulate admission and ensure orderly arrangements. Devotees have been requested to reach the venue well before the scheduled start of the main programme, while the front rows will remain reserved.

Grand illumination and decorative lighting are also being planned along Kalimati Road and around the venue to mark the occasion.

Continuing its decade-long tradition of recognising individuals for their outstanding contribution to society, the Har Har Mahadev Seva Sangh will honour five distinguished personalities with the Sangh Ratna Seva Award during the programme.

Former Tata Motors Hospital General Manager and noted surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kumar and eminent obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr. Anju Bajoria will be honoured for their contribution to medical service.

Social worker Ashok Ghosh, known for his long-standing commitment towards providing food and assistance to the helpless and needy, will be recognised for social service.

Veteran singer Sardar Balwinder Singh will be honoured for his contribution to literature and patriotism through songs of valour and national pride, while Hasan Imam Malik, popularly known as Chiku, will be recognised for his lifelong contribution to sports in the city.
