Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar on Wednesday inspected several polling stations in Hiranpur block of Pakur district to assess the ground-level progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Megha Bhardwaj, Kumar interacted directly with voters and reviewed the work being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He also visited the homes of voters falling under the “no-mapping” category and sought details required to complete the mapping process.
During his inspection of Booth No. 75 at the Kamalghati Panchayat Bhawan, Kumar sought a detailed report from BLO Shabana Begum on the status of the SIR exercise. The BLO informed him that six voters in the booth area had been categorised as “no-mapping”, while discrepancies had been detected in the details of 289 voters.
The CEO sought information regarding the place of birth and other relevant details of the no-mapping voters. He said that, wherever necessary, records such as khatiyan and other valid documents could be used to verify the information.
Kumar subsequently visited Kamalghati village and met voters Haider and Mariam Bibi at their homes. He interacted with them directly and sought the information required for the mapping exercise.
He instructed the concerned BLO to coordinate with the voters and collect the necessary documents so that their mapping could be completed at the earliest.
The CEO later inspected Booth Nos. 127 and 128 at the Model Plus Two School in Hathkathi and reviewed the progress of the SIR exercise with the respective BLOs. He issued directions for expediting the verification and mapping process.
Officials present during the inspection included Sub-Divisional Officer Simon Marandi, Hiranpur BDO Tudu Dilip, Littipara BDO Sanjay Kumar, Hiranpur Circle Officer Manoj Kumar, Littipara Circle Officer Pawan Kumar and BPO Manik Das, besides other officials and election personnel.
