86 donors join blood donation drive in Jamshedpur

As many as 86 people donated blood at a one-day blood donation camp organised at Kannelite Hotel on Friday to mark the birth anniversary of its founder, the late Mithilesh Jha.

The camp was organised jointly by the Mithilesh Jha Memorial Foundation and the Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur. It was the fifth consecutive blood donation camp held in his memory since his passing.

East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan, who is also the President of the Red Cross Society, inaugurated the camp along with the society’s Honorary Secretary Vijay Kumar Singh and Kenelite Hotel Director Amlesh Jha. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by floral tributes to the portrait of the late Mithilesh Jha.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan described blood donation as one of the highest forms of charity, saying there could be no greater gift than donating blood as it gives the gift of life to others. He also recalled Mithilesh Jha as a noble and soft-spoken person and said that organising a blood donation camp in his memory was a meaningful tribute to his life and values.

The camp received an enthusiastic response, with 86 people, including the inaugurator, coming forward to donate blood. All the donors were honoured by the organisers with certificates and gifts in recognition of their contribution.

Amlesh Jha, Nirmal Deep, Naveen Singh, D.K. Ghosh, Purvi Ghosh, Rajpati Devi, Bande Shankar Singh and Manoj Singh, among others, played key roles in making the camp a success.

The organisers expressed gratitude to the donors and participants for their support and said the initiative would help spread awareness about voluntary blood donation while carrying forward the humanitarian legacy of the late Mithilesh Jha.
