The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Dumka City Committee convened an important meeting on Sunday at the Circuit House to register strong opposition against the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill and to coordinate party efforts for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Chaired by District President Shiv Kumar Baskey and conducted by City President Vijay Kumar Das, the session witnessed party leaders raising sharp concerns against the central government.
Addressing party workers, District President Shiv Kumar Baskey alleged that the Centre is acting in haste to push through the amendment bill, describing the move as a direct injustice to the resource-rich state. He asserted that the people of Jharkhand will not accept any policy that undermines the economic rights and constitutional autonomy of the state.
Reiterating the party’s stance, District Spokesperson Abdus Salam Ansari stated that discriminatory treatment toward Jharkhand will face strong democratic resistance. He emphasized that if the Centre continues to ignore regional demands, the JMM will take the battle to the streets. City President Vijay Kumar Das warned that the struggle would continue “from the legislature to the streets” until the legislation is rolled back, clarifying that the movement is focused squarely on defending Jharkhand’s constitutional safeguards rather than opposing legitimate industrial investment.
Turning to organizational matters, party leaders discussed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, instructing workers to visit every municipal ward to build public awareness and assist residents so that no eligible citizen is left off the electoral rolls. The meeting saw active participation from key party functionaries and workers, including Ravi Yadav, Rajesh Kumar Singh, Chandan Bhuwania, Mohammad Arif, Suman Yadav, Arvind Shah, Saket Kumar Gupta, Himanshu Kumar Singh, Vinay Kumar, Rajesh Chourasia, Raj Kumar Mandal, Mohammad Imran Alam, Manoj Rajak, Mohammad Parwez Alam, Krishna Devi, Geeta Devi, Champa Devi, Soni Devi, Gudiya Keshari, Poonam Shah, and Rajesh Raj.
