In order to bring civic services closer to residents, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has initiated a unique citizen- centric initiative of setting up dedicated circle offices across the city.
The move is aimed to reduce the need for Ranchiites from outlying areas of the city to visit the RMC office at Kutchery for routine municipal services. To make this possible, Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav, along with a team of RMC officials, inspected seven potential sites including buildings and vacant spaces for the proposed circle offices in different parts of the City on August 22.
With this initiative, the civic body aims to provide citizens with access to various corporation services including birth and death registration, holding and water tax payment and application, trade license related application, payment and permit, applications regarding Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, complaints and grievances related to civil works and other services provided by the Corporation.
During the inspection, the Municipal Commissioner gave instructions to his team to develop all the identified buildings into convenient service centres for citizens and undertake necessary repairs, painting and civil work, besides also ensuring the availability of basic facilities such as electricity, water, toilets, tables, chairs and computers. Gaurav also directed officials to develop sheds and waiting areas outside the buildings so that people visiting the centres for services do not face inconvenience.
“Citizens waste time, money and effort in travelling to the RMC headquarters for routine municipal work. Developing circle offices in various parts of the city will enable residents to access services closer to their homes and will also make the Municipal Corporation’s services more accessible, decentralised and citizen- centric,” said Ranchi Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav.
The proposed circle offices will have officials and personnel from different branches of the Corporation. “Following the consent and recommendation of the Municipal Board, the process of finalising the locations will be completed and the circle offices will be made operational in phases,” added Gaurav.
The location inspected include Ward 21 near Bada Talab, Ward 32 in Pandra, Ward 6 in Bandhgadi, Ward 42 near the Election Office in Dhurwa, Ward 41 at Shakha Maidan in Dhurwa and Ward 52 at Nayak Toli in Hatia. The team also inspected the Doranda Circle Office in Ward 44 where various civic services are already being provided.
