A 20-year-old man allegedly strangled his uncle to death over a family land dispute and, with the help of his mother, dumped the body in a maize field in Garhwa district, police said. The case was cracked within 24 hours of the recovery of the body.
Police were alerted around 5 pm on August 24 after the body of Rajindra Yadav, alias Bugi, was found in a maize field at Yadav Tola in Karke village under Dandai police station. The victim had injuries on his head and leg. His body was sent to Sadar Hospital, Garhwa, for post-mortem examination.
A case was registered under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Acting on the directions of the Garhwa SP, a police team led by SDPO Dilu Lohra launched an investigation.
Police arrested Rajindra’s nephew, Munnu Yadav, on August 25. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to strangling his uncle and dumping the body in the field. Police said Munnu’s mother, Mila Devi, 41, also helped him destroy evidence.
The accused allegedly told police that Rajindra had been selling family land without properly distributing it. Investigators recovered the deceased’s mobile phone from the field.
Munnu and Mila have been arrested and produced before a magistrate. Police also seized two mobile phones in connection with the case.
