Reinforcing the message of respect and equal opportunities for daughters, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha and his wife Dr Pratima Jha on Wednesday visited the Police Lines residence of their security officer Nitesh Kumar to congratulate his family on the birth of a baby girl.
As part of the “Badhai Ho Beti Hui Hai…” campaign, the couple blessed the newborn, offered sweets to the family and wished the child good health, a bright future and a happy life.
Jha said daughters are among the greatest assets of a family and society. The birth of a girl should be celebrated with joy, he said, stressing that daughters are not only a source of family happiness but also important contributors to social development and nation-building.
He appealed to people to congratulate families on the birth of daughters, offer sweets and, according to their means, give gifts to share their happiness.
Dr Pratima Jha said daughters symbolise affection, sensitivity and values, and their birth should be welcomed wholeheartedly to strengthen positive social change.
The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to actively participate in the campaign and help build a more sensitive, equal and progressive society.
Assistant Public Relations Officer Avinash Kumar Singh and others were present.
