Jamshedpur gets a new fine-dining destination with ‘Umami’

Gourmets of the city can look forward to spoiling their taste buds. Japanese, Korean, European and Mongolian delicacies, which were once considered to be limited only to the metros are all set to give a major boost to the hospitality sector of the city. All thanks to ‘Umami’, a premium rooftop fine-dining restaurant at Ramada Hotel, Bistupur.
Scheduled to open its doors to the public on August 2, the new restaurant aims to offer guests an elevated culinary experience with a blend of world-class cuisine, panoramic city views and contemporary hospitality.
The announcement was made during a press conference jointly addressed by Ramada Jamshedpur General Manager Manish Dutt and Chef Yugank Chopra. They described the new venture as a significant addition to Jamshedpur’s growing food and hospitality landscape, designed to redefine rooftop dining in the Steel City.
Located on the top floor of the hotel, Umami Rooftop has been developed around the concept of modern fine dining. Offering sweeping views of the city skyline, the restaurant combines elegant interiors with an open-air ambiance to create a unique setting for diners seeking both exceptional food and a memorable atmosphere.
Speaking at the launch announcement, General Manager Manish Dutt said the restaurant is more than just a dining destination.
“‘Umami’ is a confluence of taste, quality and hospitality. Our vision is to provide every guest with a world-class dining experience while setting a new benchmark for rooftop fine dining in Jamshedpur. Every dish has been carefully crafted to excel in taste, presentation and quality,” he said.
Chef Yugank Chopra highlighted the culinary philosophy behind the restaurant, saying the menu has been thoughtfully curated to appeal to guests of all age groups and varied palates. The offerings feature an extensive selection of Indian, Asian and international cuisines, with special emphasis on blending authentic Indian flavours with contemporary global influences.
Guests will also be able to enjoy an exclusive range of handcrafted mocktails and premium beverages, complemented by attentive service from professionally trained staff. The hotel management said every aspect of the dining experience—from food presentation to hospitality—has been designed to meet international standards.
Several senior members of the hotel’s leadership team were present during the press conference, including Director of Food and Beverage Anup Bera, Executive Chef Mohammad Iliyas, Senior Chef Videsh Panja, Manager Sushil Kumar Singh and Executive Housekeeping Manager Shiv Kumar.
