The central leadership of the Jharkhand Police Association, led by president Rahul Murmu, visited Pakur on Thursday as part of its Santhal Pargana tour during the ongoing Shravani Mela, interacting with association members and reviewing issues concerning police personnel.
The delegation began its visit by paying floral tributes to the statue of martyred Superintendent of Police Amarjeet Balihar at New Collectorate Chowk. The team later met the Superintendent of Police. The delegation also included Association General Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and Treasurer Santosh Kumar Mahto.
Speaking to reporters, Murmu said the association’s central team was touring Deoghar, Basukinath, Dumka and Pakur to interact with police personnel, understand their concerns and assess their welfare.
Murmu, who hails from Pakur district, said the delegation would hold discussions with local office-bearers to identify issues affecting police personnel. He said matters that could not be resolved at the district level would be taken up with higher authorities and, if necessary, the state government.
He also said the association would urge the district administration and the state government to install memorials for martyred police personnel alongside the existing statue of martyr SP Amarjeet Balihar in Pakur.
The visiting delegation was welcomed by Pakur Police Association office-bearers, including district president Ramashish Kumar, secretary Suray Tape, treasurer Anant Ram and joint secretary Mangal Kisku.
