Ankit Ranjan, an engineer couple residing in Hinoo, Ranchi, and his wife Ankita Chandra had gone to visit Nepal. Both have gone missing from there. Currently, Ankit Ranjan has acquired UK citizenship. He is an engineer at the JPMorgan company. His wife is also an engineer in the UK. Both had gone to visit Nepal directly from the UK.
Ankit Ranjan and his wife had reached the Rasuwagadhi Immigration Center located on the Nepal-Tibet border around 8:00 AM on the morning of August 26 for documentation purposes. This information has been given by Ankit Ranjan’s younger brother, Tanay Ranjan. Tanay Ranjan stated that he last spoke to his elder brother Ankit Ranjan at that exact time. Since then, there has been no trace of both of them. According to the family, search efforts are underway following their disappearance.
According to Tanay Ranjan, his elder brother Ankit Ranjan left Ranchi back in 2009. After that, he moved to the UK. Currently, he lives there and works as an engineer. His wife is also an engineer in the UK. Tanay Ranjan now lives in Nashik. He stated that after going to Nepal, contact with his brother and sister-in-law has not been possible. The family is deeply concerned for their safe recovery.
Sources said that with techie couple missing, the number of persons from Jharkhand who went missing in the flash flood in Nepal has risen to four.
Shikha Lakra, head of the migrant workers’ control room, said there was no information on Ankit and Ankita missing as their family members have not contacted us yet.
Lakra further said, “As per our details two persons are missing from Jharkhand in Nepal floods. Ram Prasad Ghosh, a resident from Kokar is missing, while another person, a 50-year-old Palamu resident has been missing in Nepal since Aug 26, when a deadly flash flood struck a part of the Nepal-Tibet border. The missing man has been identified as Mahender Vishwakarma, a resident of Barwadeeh village under Mohammadganj police station limits.”
Prasad, a 41-year-old Ranchi man is one of 288 people missing after flash floods swept through parts of Nepal. The flash floods, triggered by an earthquake and an avalanche, have killed more than 650 people and left 2500 people missing.
The Ghosh family are now making plans to travel to Nepal. “We cannot just sit at home. We will leave and see what we can do there. We will go and find him,” Ditya says, while his father, Ranjit Kumar Ghosh, adds: “Our only appeal is that he should be found as soon as possible and brought back home safely.”
