Reaffirming the Jharkhand government’s commitment to ensuring access to quality education for every student, State Welfare Minister Chamra Linda on Monday distributed bicycles among 693 students from 10 schools at the TVS CM School of Excellence, Jagannathpur Cluster Point in Ranchi.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the minister said the State government is committed to securing a brighter future for students through various educational initiatives. He highlighted that special coaching arrangements are being made for aspirants of medical and engineering courses by connecting them with reputed institutes, including Motion Education in Kota, enabling them to compete successfully in national-level entrance examinations.
Encouraging students to remain focused on their studies and stay dedicated to their goals, Linda said the free bicycle distribution scheme would significantly benefit those who travel long distances to school. He noted that the initiative would improve access to education and help reduce school dropout rates.
The bicycles were distributed under the Free Bicycle Distribution Scheme implemented by the Department of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority and Backward Class Welfare. The scheme is aimed at students studying in Class VIII in government schools across the state.
Officials informed that 16,780 bicycles have been sanctioned for distribution in Ranchi district during the 2026-27 academic year.
