Under the ongoing “Aapan Saraswatiya” river rejuvenation campaign, restoration work on the Saraswatiya River entered its 21st consecutive day on Sunday, with cleaning, desilting, and widening activities continuing on a war footing.
As the monsoon season draws near, the administration has accelerated the operation by deploying more than six JCB machines to clear blockages and improve the river’s flow. Similar efforts have also been underway in the Meral region for the past two weeks, where the work is progressing at a rapid pace.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Sanjay Kumar thanked local residents, social workers, and community members for their active support and participation, describing the initiative as a people-driven movement dedicated to restoring the river.
The SDO warned that anyone found dumping garbage or waste into the river would be identified and face legal action. He also addressed public complaints alleging that the Municipal Council was disposing of waste near the river and failing to ensure regular garbage collection.
