Indian Army’s mega eye care camp ‘Drishti 2026’ concludes

The four-day Mega Eye Care Camp ‘Drishti 2026’, organised by the Indian Army, concluded successfully today at Military Hospital Namkum. Conducted under the aegis of Eastern Command by the Brahmastra Corps, this humanitarian initiative was held from 16 to 19 June 2026 and witnessed the participation of senior ophthalmologists and specialist medical teams from the prestigious Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi.
During the four-day camp, expert medical teams provided comprehensive eye examinations, advanced diagnostic investigations, specialist consultations, and sight-restoring treatments to thousands of patients. Approximately 2,500 beneficiaries availed the services, including veterans, , military families, and residents of Ranchi and surrounding tribal areas. A total of 393 eye surgeries were successfully conducted during the camp, offering many individuals the opportunity to regain their vision and improve their quality of life.
The valedictory ceremony was held at Trinetra Auditorium and was graced by Sanjay Seth, Raksha Rajya Mantri, as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Lieutenant General Yash Ahlawat, General Officer Commanding, Brahmastra Corps.
The programme commenced with the screening of a special documentary showcasing the overall functioning of the eye care camp, including the screening process and day-to-day activities. One of the major highlights of the event was the felicitation ceremony, during which the Raksha Rajya Mantri honoured the dedicated members of ‘Team Drishti’, including specialist doctors, medical personnel, and selected beneficiaries.
In his address, Sanjay Seth commended the tireless efforts of the medical specialists, organisers, and supporting staff, appreciating the meticulous planning, effective execution, and spirit of service that characterised the camp. He stated that such initiatives reflect the Indian Army’s commitment to public welfare and play a vital role in delivering quality healthcare services to underserved sections of society. The programme concluded with an informal interaction among dignitaries, media representatives, and beneficiaries.
The success of ‘Drishti 2026’ stands as a powerful testament to the fact that the Indian Army’s responsibility extends beyond safeguarding the nation’s borders; it is equally committed to the welfare and well-being of the people. By providing advanced ophthalmic care to veterans, Veer Naris, military families, and tribal communities, the Army has once again exemplified its enduring ethos of “Seva Paramo Dharma” (Service Before Self). This initiative reaffirms that the Indian Army is not only a guardian of national security but also a source of hope, trust, and healthcare for the citizens of the nation.
