The capital city Ranchi will witness a unique blend of fashion, tribute and social recognition this weekend as Hotel Radisson will host the Mission Shakti Nari Sammaan Samaroh and National Fashion Show, Season 7 on Saturday, July 4, from 4 pm onwards. The event is jointly organised by Sakman Bhagya Foundation and Magadh Production and the event marks the first time the series is being staged in Jharkhand.
The evening will felicitate women achievers from the state, honour cancer patients and pay tribute to Indian armed forces martyrs, before a patriotic-themed fashion show takes over. The idea, organisers say, is to put recognition, remembrance and fashion in the same room instead of scattering them across separate events.
Sakman Bhagya Foundation and Magadh Production are jointly running the show with foundation director Ashutosh Kumar taking this format city to city for two years now. Previously the season 6 was held in Kolkata on January 10 this year, which centred on a tribute to the Indian Army and season 5, on July 5, 2025 at Fortune Park, Kolkata, was timed with Kargil Vijay Diwas and honoured wives of the martyred soldiers killed in that war for which around 100 women from across states took part, and there was a performance by children with disabilities too.
Before that, the series was a New Delhi affair. Season 4, December 14, 2024, at The Park Hotel, had Union Minister for youth affairs and sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse as guest of honour, and students from FDDI Noida participated and showed their designs. Season 3 ran on June 29, 2024, also built around young design talent. Names like actor-producer Prakash Jha have shown up at past editions, and Lt Gen Dr A P Singh, former Director General and Colonel Commandant of Army Air Defence, has stuck around as the show’s director and adviser.
Every season the event has a children’s segment, and it changes with the city with kids performing styles from their own culture. Kerala, Delhi, Kolkata have all had their turn. This time it’s Ranchi’s, with local children performing to represent Jharkhand.
Dr Roma Vaswani, a well known name in Kerala for her dance and social welfare work have picked the children for this edition, a small group of differently abled and special children from Bright Learning Centre and Guru Nanak Home, Ranchi. Designers, social workers and people from the defence community are among those expected at the Saturday event.
