Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha on Monday visited Bagda village in Kasmar block after learning that farmer Ganesh Mahto alias Girdhari had dug a well through his own labour. Inspecting the half-constructed well, the DC directed officials to complete the remaining work, install a solar pump and provide all necessary support.
He instructed the Block Development Officer (BDO) to prepare and submit the estimate for the remaining work by Tuesday evening so that construction could be completed without delay. He also ordered a medical examination of Ganesh Mahto and directed officials to ensure necessary treatment.
Officials informed the DC that the farmer had not applied for a government irrigation well and had decided to dig one himself after facing difficulties in accessing water for irrigation.
Ajay Nath Jha directed the village Mukhiya to ensure that community assets created under government schemes, including wells, are accessible to nearby residents whenever required. Emphasising cooperation and social harmony, he said no needy person should be deprived of such facilities.
Calling Ganesh Mahto’s determination inspiring, the Deputy Commissioner said the administration is committed to supporting such resilient citizens and directed officials to honour him at both the block and district levels.
The visit was attended by BDO Namrata Joshi, Circle Officer Nagendra Singh, District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar, Assistant Public Relations Officer Avinash Kumar Singh, and other officials.
