Protests against the alleged irregularities in the 14th Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) intensified on Wednesday as members of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM), students and parents staged a torchlight procession in Ranchi.
Led by the organisation’s central senior vice-president Devendra Nath Mahato, the march began at District School and concluded at Albert Ekka Chowk. Protesters raised slogans against the JPSC and the state government, demanding a fair examination process. They also burned an effigy of the JPSC chairman to register their protest.
Addressing the gathering, Mahato alleged widespread irregularities in the preliminary examination and accused the commission of ignoring candidates’ objections while preparing to conduct the Main Examination within just 16 days. He said holding the next stage of the examination without an impartial probe into the allegations would be unfair to thousands of aspirants.
He further claimed that documents and evidence related to the alleged irregularities had been submitted to the Governor of Jharkhand on Tuesday, seeking an independent investigation and strict action against those found responsible.
The demonstration was attended by JLKM district president Guna Bhagat, Parvati Kumari, Khalil Khan, Ayub Ali, Rehan Ansari, Anuj Singh, Manish Sahu, Gajendra Mahato, Shravan Kumar, Ramprasad Mahato and several students, parents and organisation members.
