The district administration has intensified efforts to strengthen Panchayat Secretariats and Gyan Centres across rural areas with the aim of improving access to government services and educational resources at the grassroots level.
During a review of facilities by Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania at the Naya Chitakath Panchayat Secretariat under Mohanpur block on Tuesday, the condition of the panchayat building, internet connectivity, television facilities, JSLPS office, Pragya Centre, and resources available at the Gyan Centre were assessed.
As part of the initiative, panchayats will be identified in a phased manner for the development of model Panchayat Secretariats and Gyan Centres. The objective is to ensure that villagers can access essential government services closer to their homes without having to travel to district headquarters for routine matters.
Officials have been directed to develop 25 Panchayat Secretariats and Gyan Centres as model centres by August. These centres will be equipped with improved infrastructure and resources to enhance service delivery and community engagement.
Special camps will also be organized periodically at Panchayat Secretariats to facilitate public services and make the institutions more vibrant and responsive to local needs. Measures are being planned to ensure the regular presence of Panchayat Secretaries at the secretariats to expedite local administrative work.
Particular emphasis is being placed on strengthening Gyan Centres as learning hubs for rural children. Efforts will be made to upgrade facilities and resources at these centres to provide students with a conducive and positive environment for education and self-learning.
Senior district officials, including representatives from the Panchayati Raj Department and block administration, participated in the review and discussed steps for accelerating the implementation of the initiative.
